Living in the 1990’s
Everywhere you look new things are being invented. Some popular things being produced are movies, books, music, toys, and the list goes on. During the 1990’s there were a lot of known movies and toys that were made. Some of my favorite movies from the 1990’s are The Lion King and Titanic. These are still known movies to this day. Some of my favorite toys from the 1990’s are Furby’s and Tamagotchi’s. When you talk about these toys today, people always say, “Oh I remember playing with those toys” and that brings back great memories.
First, movies are always being produced. Movies can range from animated, horror, romantic, chick flicks, and so on. In the 1990’s there were many movies that were made. Just to name a few, The Lion King, Titanic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jurassic Park, Forrest Gump, and many others. The Lion King was made in 1994 and is one of the all-time classic animated features produced by Disney Studios (Pendergast, 2002). The Lion King not only was a magnificent movie but also became a smash-hit, Tony Award winning Broadway musical in 1998. The Titanic opened on December 19, 1997, in American movie theaters. Titanic was the most expensive movies of all time, it cost nearly $300 million to produce and market (100 Greatest Movies of the ‘90’s). Those are just a few movies that are still known to this day.
Next, people will always remember their favorite toys that they always played with. A few of the popular toys in the 1990’s were Pokemon, Tamagotchi’s, Power Rangers, Game Boy’s, Beanie Babies, and Furby’s. When these computerized toys hit the scene, nothing like it had been seen. Kids would teach these furry animals' words and phrases. These toys required kids to "feed" them and put them to sleep regularly. Furby’s were able to hold conversations with people as well as with other Furby’s (Top 10 Christmas Toys of the 1990’s). Tamagotchi’s are little inexpensive electronic pets. Kids were able to feed, dress and play with them on a little, hand held devices (Top 10 Christmas Toys of the 1990’s). Those were some of the popular toys of the 1990’s.
Lastly, what do movies and toys have in common? They are both things everybody liked or still like to this day. For the most of us we have a couple of movies that will always be our all time favorite movies. For some movies we might even be able to recite the words, word for word. People look back when they were younger and they think about all of the old toys that they played with, that probably brought back a lot of great memories. In the 1990’s there were a lot of never before seen toys that came out and had the whole country talking about them.
In conclusion, everywhere you look new things are being invented. Some major things are new movies are always being produced. Top of the line toys are always being stalked up on the shelves in stores. All the movies and toys had an impact in my life. In some movies they taught me some life lessons. I also, grew up in the 1990’s, so I can relate to the movies and toys better. Therefore, the 1990’s had many great movies and toys and will be remembered for a lifetime.
